  3. Family Photo Album 1.0 - Evaluation Version (Build 103, 10/16/98)

  5. Release Notes
  6. This file accompanies the evaluation version of this product.  The evaluation version
  7. is intended to provide the end user a chance to "test-drive" the product for a fixed amount
  8. of time, during which the user may purchase the full release version.  This evaluation copy
  9. will expire 40 days after first use.  In addition, due to the evaluation version only being 
  10. available on the web, the evaluation version has several features removed in order to 
  11. make the download times more reasonable.  These features are: all but the first and
  12. last album styles, and album color schemes.  To order the fully functional release

  15. Although there is an online, context sensitive help system, a users manual (manual.doc)
  16. has also been provided in the installation directory where family photo album was installed.
  17. This manual is in Microsoft Word format.

  19. Also, in order to allow those new to digital image processing an easier start, a
  20. few sample digital photos are installed by default in the ./photos subdirectory of 
  21. wherever Family Photo Album is installed.

  23. Requirements
  24. The system requirements for Family Photo Album are as follows:
  25. * Pentium 90 or better (for reasonable performance)
  26. * at least 16MB or RAM
  27. * at least 20MB of available disk space
  28. * 640 x 480 color monitor with at least 32k colors available 
  29.   (1024 x 768 or better, with 16.7M colors (24-bit) is recommended for best viewing)
  30. * Windows 95, Window 98, or NT 4.0
  31.  
  32. The family photo album product is currently intended to handle a limited number of image 
  33. formats.  The number of file formats supported will quickly grow in the future, but is currently 
  34. limited to:
  35.  
  36. * Bitmap (*.BMP) - Greyscale, 8-bit, and 24-bit color formats are currently supported.  
  37.    Note: references to 8-bit and 24-bit color  .BMPs are not to be confused with the display
  38.    adapter settings.
  39. * Jpeg (*.JPG) - Normal compressed jpeg is supported.  (Multi-scan and other interleaved 
  40.    formats are not supported.

  42. Installation from CD-ROM
  43. To install Family Photo Album, insert the CD-ROM in the CD drive of the computer 
  44. on which you wish to install the product.  From the Windows "Start" menu,  click on 
  45. "Run".  Type in the following: "<CD-Drive>:/setup.exe", where <CD-Drive> is the 
  46. letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive on the computer (ie. D).  
  47. If you have autorun enabled on your computer, the above steps are uneccessary, and
  48. the installation program will start automatically.
  49. Once setup is started, you will be asked a few questions regarding whether you 
  50. would like installation to create a desktop icon, etc.  Generally, the defaults are OK.
